Justin Capri Ruffin born, June 14, 1988, is better known by his stage name J.Capri. Residing from the same stomping grounds as famous hip-hop group Little Brother, producer 9th Wonder and rap’s newcomer J.Cole, the North Carolina native credits artists such as Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, Jadakiss and Lupe Fiasco for their influence on his style. Remaining busy these days, the young emcee has been spotted on tour stops with Curren$y, Mac Miller, Young Jeezy, Young Dro and J.Cole. He says “growing up I was way too young to listen to the music I wanted to listen to, so instead of my moms buying me music, I would pick and choose from my stepfathers CD collection to get my fix” he reminisced. “I grew up listening to music in ways different than others – I was always studying – people would get annoyed because I knew every word to any song on the radio or CD”. He remembers writing his first rap at 10 years old for a assignment in a elementary school music class, slightly overlooking the fact that his classmates were overwhelmed. The North Carolina spitter lived a childhood that was consumed with rap music and sports, which led to him competing in 3 years of Division-I athletics at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Now he’s listed to potentially have next as an artist in the area that is becoming quintessential for good music. Stay tuned as it’s looking like Capri may have a bright future.
